Choosing the right fatbike tyre

A fatbike tyre is designated by diameter × width, usually 20×4.0 inches. Just as important as the size is your frame clearance: not every frame has room for a 4.0 tyre. The tread determines your grip — knobbly for sand, woods and mud, semi-slick for quiet miles on tarmac. Torn between sizes or treads? Read our tyre guide or ask us.

Buy fatbike tyres: 20x4.0 and more

The tyre determines how your fatbike rides: grip on sand and loose surfaces, damping on poor road surfaces and stability in wet weather. Most fatbikes run on a 20x4.0 tyre, but there are also 26-inch models and narrower street tyres. A wrong size simply will not fit your rim — check the specifications, or ask us if in doubt.

Which tyre fits my fatbike?

Our fatbike tyres fit popular models such as the OUXI V8, V8 Max, H9 and V20, the QMWheel V20 and V20 Pro and the 7GO EB series. The standard size is 20x4.0; if you ride a 26-inch fatbike, choose a 26-inch tyre. Each product shows which models the tyre fits. Not sure about your size? Check the sidewall of your current tyre or ask us.

Street tread or knobbly tread?

For daily commuting on tarmac, a street tyre is more efficient and quieter. Heading into the woods or onto the beach? Choose a tyre with a coarser tread for extra grip. Keep an eye on your tyre pressure too: a 20x4.0 fatbike tyre typically runs around 1.8 bar (about 21 PSI). In our tyre guide we explain tread, size and pressure step by step.

When replacing a tyre, also think of a matching inner tube and possibly a repair kit. For that, see our inner tubes. In doubt about the size? Check the specifications or ask us.
