Replacing a motor or drivetrain
You replace a hub motor like-for-like: the voltage (36V/48V), the power (250W for public roads) and the fitting width of the rear frame must match your current motor. We only supply legal replacement motors — no tuning kits. Chains and sprockets also differ per model; check the number of links and the pitch before you order.

Buy a fatbike motor and drivetrain
The motor and drivetrain provide your pedal assist. Most fatbikes have a 250W rear hub motor — the legal maximum in the EU for a pedal-assisted bicycle up to 25 km/h. Besides the motor itself, this also covers sprockets, chains and drivetrain parts. These parts are model-specific and must match your rim, voltage and model year. Check the specifications or ask us if in doubt.
Which motor fits my fatbike?
Among other things, we stock a 250W rear-wheel motor 20×4.0 for the Diablo and drivetrain parts for various 36V fatbikes. A hub motor must match your rim size (usually 20 inch), your voltage and your connector. Read the power and voltage off your current motor, or ask us — we will find the right motor and plug.
Motor, chain and sprockets together
If you hear a ticking or slipping sound while pedalling, the problem is often not the motor but the drivetrain: a worn chain, sprocket or crank. For that, see our pedals & cranks. Replace worn parts together, so a new chain doesn't immediately wear on old sprockets.
Power and legislation
Stick to 250W and 25 km/h to stay legal and insured on public roads. A heavier motor or tuned software quickly turns your fatbike into a moped, with registration and insurance obligations as a result. If your motor works together with your display and controller, match them when replacing. In doubt about the fit? Check the specifications or ask us.
